THE RIVIERA COUNTRY CLUB
FEBRUARY 11-17, 2019
From the first tee at the world famous Riviera Country Club, to the moment the champion hoisted the Genesis Open trophy, fans witnessed the world’s finest golfers performing at the very highest level. Demonstrating that talent, skill, resourcefulness and commitment are indeed the formula to overcoming obstacles. We thank these pros and the many guests who joined us to make the 3rd Genesis Open a resounding success. It was, once again, our great privilege to partner with this most revered of PGA tournaments, and honor the game of golf and fans alike.
There would be no tournament without the fans so, naturally, the Genesis Open is also about showing our guests the utmost hospitality. All attendees were invited to step away from the gallery to experience the special events and activities at the Genesis 14th Lounge. The Genesis Performance Lab provided spectators analysis of their putting game and coaching from PGA teaching pros. Everyone enjoyed special lawn games and, of course, enthusiasts could also check out the full lineup of Genesis vehicles.
The 2019 North American Car of the Year™ was out in full force, making its presence felt at Riviera. Visitors had the opportunity to check out the latest exhilarating member of the Genesis lineup at the starter shack, clubhouse, and Genesis Skybox as well as the Genesis 14th Lounge. In addition, the G70 was featured in our hole-in-one contest at 14 and 16, where the pros had the opportunity to drive off in their own G70.
With the tournament successfully in the books, Monday saw invitees join us and our Genesis Open partners for a cleanup day at Santa Monica State Beach. In the spirit of hope for the future, it proved a fitting wrap-up to a great event. And another way to thank Los Angeles for, once again, being such a gracious host to the Genesis Open.
Another high point at Riviera was the PGA announcement that the Genesis Open will receive elevated status on TOUR beginning in 2020. Key enhancements include moving to invitational qualifying status with a reduced field of 120, and the purse growing to $9.3 million, among the largest on TOUR.
The champion will also receive a three-year PGA TOUR exemption. In addition, the philanthropic efforts of the TGR Foundation on behalf of Southern California students will be promoted through tournament telecasts and communications. We’re excited to see the Genesis Open reach an even higher level.
Genesis shares a special kinship with golf, a sport built on respect, integrity and exceptional skill, and we support golfers and enthusiasts from the highest levels of the PGA to the amateur ranks.
