ELECTRIC TECHNOLOGY

ALWAYS A STEP AHEAD

SUSTAINABILITY

Our electric models have exceptional range and performance, fast-charging functions and unique technologies. Discover how we are creating the new standard in sustainable innovation.

CREATING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

We have started our bold journey to switch to electric. From 2025 onwards, all new Genesis vehicles will be fully electric. In addition to that we are also committed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035 to create a more sustainable future.

ELECTRIC FEATURES

  • Ultra-fast charging

With 800 V capability for ultra-fast charging and greatly reducing waiting times, our charging technology is both sustainable and sophisticated.

  • Vehicle-to-load function

This technology lets you use the energy held in your car to power or charge external devices as well as other vehicles such as e-bikes.

  • i-Pedal with Smart Regenerative Braking

Thanks to regenerative braking, you can drive your Genesis mostly using just the accelerator. When you ease off the i-Pedal the electric motor smoothly slows you down. You can still use the normal brake if needed.

DID YOU KNOW?

Thanks to the ultra-fast charging technology, the batteries of the Genesis GV60 and Electrified GV70 can be charged from 10 % to 80 % in 18 minutes and the Electrified G80 in about 22 minutes, at a 350 kW DC Charger.²

FAQ

IS AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE FOR ME?

The best way to find out if an electric vehicle suits your lifestyle is to have a personal consultation with one of our Genesis Personal Assistants. Simply contact us to make an appointment and arrange an individual test drive.

IS THE HIGHER PURCHASE PRICE OF AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE JUSTIFIED?

Switching to e-mobility is a personal decision and can work out to be more or less cost-efficient depending on your current vehicle. However, the possibilities to save on operating costs make the electric vehicle an attractive alternative. Find out more in our cost comparison tool.

WHICH SUBSIDIES ARE AVAILABLE?

Currently, there are no subsidies available for Switzerland.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CHARGE THE BATTERY?

The charging time depends on the battery's charging level as well as the charging point. From ultra-fast charging at a 350 kW charging point in as little as 18 minutes² (10 - 80 % SoC) to a household socket with a charging time of over 34 hours, there are significant differences. Find out more about the different charging points and the time required in our charging time overview

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AC AND DC CHARGING?

The abbreviation AC stands for alternating current and DC for direct current. Although only direct current can be stored in the high-voltage battery, you can use both alternating current and direct current to charge your electric car. Alternating current will simply be converted into direct current by an AC/DC converter integrated in the vehicle.

WHAT IS RECUPERATION?

In an electric vehicle, recuperation is the recovery of energy. In an electric car, taking your foot off the accelerator causes it to noticeably decelerate. As the driver, you will feel a resistance similar to engine braking. This resistance creates kinetic energy which is converted into electricity via an internal generator. This electric energy is stored and used to accelerate the vehicle when needed. By using regenerative braking more than normal brakes you will produce less brake dust, decreasing air pollution.

WHY IS AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHEAPER TO MAINTAIN?

Electric vehicles have the advantage when it comes to saving on maintenance and service. The German automobile club ADAC has compared the total service costs of both vehicle types and calculated that the maintenance costs of an electric car are about 35 % lower than those of a petrol or diesel vehicle – mainly because electric cars are not as susceptible to wear and tear.

WHAT DO I DO IF THE BATTERY RUNS OUT?

When your charge level is low, you can select the eco mode to drive as efficiently as possible until you reach a charging station. Should you still suffer an empty battery, you can contact Genesis Roadside Assistance on 00800 00 32 33 00.

1 Note that the range figures provided are estimates only and may not reflect real life driving results, which will depend upon a number of factors including the starting charge of the battery, accessories fitted (post-registration), variations in weather, driving styles and vehicle load.
2 18 minute charge is based on 800 V from ultra-rapid chargers (350 kW) . Actual charging time will vary and is dependent on a number of factors including battery temperature, condition and age, ambient temperature and the power provided by the charger. Charge time increases in cold weather and if battery temperature activates safeguarding technology.
The consumption and emission values are based on the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). Further information on the WLTP measurement procedure can be found at https://www.genesis.com/uk/en/wltp.html.
