G90 Digital key 2, Built-in Cam OTA Software Update

Dear G90 drivers.

OTA software update designed to add new convenience features will be released in sequence from June 27, 2022.
As the OTA software update is to be performed sequentially, update start and finish timing may vary from vehicle to vehicle.

Description
Digital key 2 new features update

Digital key 2 feature supporting UWB+BLE communication protocols has been newly added in addition to the conventional NFC platform.

* This feature can be used only for smartphones compatible with Digital key 2 (UWB), which can be identified in Genesis website or applicable smartphone manufacturer’s website.
(Compatible smartphone models may be subject to change, depending on the circumstances of smartphone manufacturers.)

  • * NFC (Near Field Communication)
  • * BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy)
  • * UWB (Ultra-Wide Band)

  1. 1) Digital key registration: if your smartphone supports the new Digital key 2 feature (UWB/BLE), you can register the digital key without having to place the smartphone on the wireless recharger as long as it is kept in your vehicle.
    (Smartphones supporting only Digital key 2 touch feature (NFC) needs to be placed on the wireless recharger.)
  2. 2) Vehicle entry/start: if your smartphone supports the new Digital key 2 feature (UWB/BLE), you can lock/unlock vehicle door and start your vehicle as long as you carry it with you.
    (Smartphones supporting only Digital key 2 touch feature (NFC) needs to be tagged to the door handle or placed on the wireless recharger.)
  3. 3) Remote vehicle control: if your smartphone supports the new Digital key 2 feature (UWB/BLE), you can lock/unlock vehicle doors, and control warning, remote start features as long as the smartphone is connected with the vehicle over BLE network.
    * To remote-start your vehicle, you need to press the Door Lock button together with your smart key and press the Remote Start button in four seconds.

Updated Digital 2 feature can be used after your smartphone key is newly registered.

  • * If there is a smartphone key that has been registered prior to this update, it needs to be completely deleted by pressing ‘Vehicle’>’Settings’>’Digital Key’>’Smartphone Key’>’Delete All’ button in the vehicle display and re-registered.
  • * A smart key needs to be available onboard when a smartphone key is to be deleted/registered.
  • * Even if a smartphone supporting only NFC has been registered as ‘My Smartphone’, if it is shared with another smartphone supporting Digital key 2 (UWB) feature, Digital key 2 (UWB) feature can be used on the shared smartphone.
  • * Refer to the user manual available in Genesis website for further details of the new Digital key 2 feature.

※ To prevent the following issues from occurring, a smart key must be kept onboard prior to updating.

  1. 1. Smart phone key, NFC card key may not be operatable while the user authentication system is being updated.
  2. 2. Even with a smart key available onboard, locking feature accessible from door button may not be temporarily operatable.
    Yet, doors can be still controlled by lock/unlock button in smart key or door lock/unlock button in the Vehicle Control menu of GCS App.

  1. 1) Built-in Cam menu is now accessible while driving for better usability.
    Yet, video play and mobile phone connection features are still restricted during driving for safety.
  2. 2) Different menus in the Built-in Cam screen can be navigated with ease simply by turning the Control Knobs.
  3. 3) Recording time on while parked is reset to maximum time upon system initialization.
GUI improvement update

In consistency with the navigation system, piston-style animation is displayed when a video clip is loaded, with some other graphic images also improved.

※ Some features include a navigation software also the latest version of the Built-in cam, after updating to normal behavior is possible.


※ Offline updating in a Hi-Tech Center or Bluehands may incur additional charges.



[ Notes on over-the-air (OTA) update ]

  1. 1. If the battery has been removed and then attached, you can update the vehicle after turning off the ignition, disconnecting the power from the additionally installed dash cam, etc., and parking for more than 4 hours.
  2. 2. If any product is connected to the vehicle OBD terminal, the update function will not work due to interference in the vehicle internal communication.
    After disconnecting the device from the vehicle OBD terminal, turn on the engine and wait for at least 5 minutes, then turn off the engine.
    (Do not connect any device to the OBD terminal during the wireless update.)
