CHARGING YOUR GENESIS

ADAPTABLE CHARGING

Our fully electric vehicles can use either fast (AC) or ultra-fast (DC) charging stations. What's more, the 3,7 kW vehicle-to-load functionality available with some models enables you to harness your car's energy to power electrical appliances or even charge other vehicles.

CHARGE ANYWHERE

The Genesis charging system was developed to be as convenient and self-explanatory as possible. To make charging even less of a hassle, we also include two types of cables as standard delivery – an ICCB and a type 2.

DID YOU KNOW?

Your Genesis warranty covers the batteries in our electric models for up to 8 years or 160.000 km, whichever comes first.⁴ The batteries are built to last so you can always recharge whenever you want, without worrying about a detrimental impact on the battery.

FAQ

IS AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE FOR ME?

The best way to find out if an electric vehicle suits your lifestyle is to have a personal consultation with one of our Genesis Personal Assistants. Simply contact us to make an appointment and arrange an individual test drive.

IS THE HIGHER PURCHASE PRICE OF AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE JUSTIFIED?

Switching to e-mobility is a personal decision and can work out to be more or less cost-efficient depending on your current vehicle. However, the possibilities to save on operating costs make the electric vehicle an attractive alternative. Find out more in our cost comparison tool.

WHICH SUBSIDIES ARE AVAILABLE?

The automotive manufacturers and the federal government are jointly subsidizing the purchase and registration of all-electric vehicles. Benefit from this incentive when purchasing your electric model of choice - and receive the environmental bonus³ of 4.785 euros in total. The environmental bonus consists of the federal share of the environmental bonus in the amount of EUR 3,000.00 (for applications from 01.01.2023 up to and including 31.12.2023) and the manufacturer's share of Genesis in the amount of EUR 1,785 (gross). The prerequisite for the grant is a holding period of 12 months from 01.01.2023. In the case of vehicle registration as of 01.09.2023, only private individuals are eligible to apply.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CHARGE THE BATTERY?

The charging time depends on the battery's charging level as well as the charging point. From ultra-fast charging at a 350 kW charging point in as little as 18 minutes³ (10 - 80 % SoC) to a household socket with a charging time of over 34 hours, there are significant differences. Find out more about the different charging points and the time required in our charging time overview

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AC AND DC CHARGING?

The abbreviation AC stands for alternating current and DC for direct current. Although only direct current can be stored in the high-voltage battery, you can use both alternating current and direct current to charge your electric car. Alternating current will simply be converted into direct current by an AC/DC converter integrated in the vehicle.

WHAT IS RECUPERATION?

In an electric vehicle, recuperation is the recovery of energy. In an electric car, taking your foot off the accelerator causes it to noticeably decelerate. As the driver, you will feel a resistance similar to engine braking. This resistance creates kinetic energy which is converted into electricity via an internal generator. This electric energy is stored and used to accelerate the vehicle when needed. By using regenerative braking more than normal brakes you will produce less brake dust, decreasing air pollution.

WHY IS AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHEAPER TO MAINTAIN?

Electric vehicles have the advantage when it comes to saving on maintenance and service. The German automobile club ADAC has compared the total service costs of both vehicle types and calculated that the maintenance costs of an electric car are about 35 % lower than those of a petrol or diesel vehicle – mainly because electric cars are not as susceptible to wear and tear.

WHAT DO I DO IF THE BATTERY RUNS OUT?

When your charge level is low, you can select the eco mode to drive as efficiently as possible until you reach a charging station. Should you still suffer an empty battery, you can contact Genesis Roadside Assistance on +49 0800 7244190.

1All values given here are estimates only. Actual values may vary depending on your driving style, travel conditions, the equipment of your vehicle and other factors. The calculation of the range is based on a battery discharge of 100 % to 0 %.
2The manufacturer's share of the environmental bonus is automatically deducted from the net list price. Under certain conditions, the environmental bonus also applies to leased fully electric vehicles and younger used vehicles that are on the list of eligible vehicles. The amount and eligibility for the "innovation premium" or the environmental bonus is governed by the guidelines available on the BAFA website. There is no legal entitlement to the "innovation premium" or the environmental bonus. Receipt of the federal share is subject to a positive decision on the application by the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA). The environmental bonus ends when the available subsidies are exhausted, but no later than 31 December 2025. There is no legal claim against Genesis.
3The charging time of 18 minutes / 22 minutes is based on an 800 V charger with 350 kW, under the assumption of ideal conditions.
