Markham, ONT. (February 17, 2023) –The winners of the 2023 AutoTrader.ca Awards were announced at a private industry event last night, with Genesis Motors Canada taking home an unprecedented five trophies – representing every segment in which it is eligible.  

The AutoTrader.ca Awards are among the most trusted and comprehensive automotive awards in Canada. After considering every single new vehicle that’s available for Canadians to buy, more than 20 automotive journalists from all over the country vote for the best vehicles in over 30 categories. The jury votes for vehicles they would feel confident recommending to their own family and friends and are voting on vehicles that go above and beyond what’s expected to set a new benchmark for their respective segments. Overall, 12 key criteria are thoroughly analyzed - including design, innovation, engineering excellence, quality and safety.

Genesis has amassed a long list of awards to its credit in only a few short years. Following up a strong showing in 2022 where both the G80 luxury sedan and GV70 compact luxury SUV took home top honours, AutoTrader.ca announced the winners for its 2023 awards and both models were once again selected as the best in their respective categories. The GV60 was selected as the Best Subcompact Luxury SUV.

Not only was the G80 chosen as the Best Large Luxury Car, but it was also picked as the Best Overall Car for 2023, an accolade bestowed upon the Genesis G70 sedan in 2021. This is the third year in a row that the GV80 has taken top honours in its category.

The Genesis G80 and Electrified G80 were said to go above and beyond to give drivers a well-rounded luxury sedan that checks all the boxes, whether in gasoline or electric form. “Our experts vote for the best cars based on a dozen different criteria, and the G80 nails every single one of them,” says AutoTrader.ca Editor-in-Chief Jodi Lai. “It's great to drive, provides a lot of value, feels special and stylish, and now with the EV version, is also very efficient. This is a car that doesn’t cut corners.”

The brand’s first-ever electric vehicle, the GV60 is the first EV to win in a non-EV specific category. “The Genesis GV60 brings the automaker into its electric era with a unique design, thoughtful details, luxury appointments, and an excellent powertrain,” says Lai. “The GV60 sets the bar high not just for EVs, but for its segment as a whole.”

The Genesis GV70 impressed the jury with its winning combination of unique style, poised driving dynamics, and luxurious interior. In this highly competitive segment, they agreed that the compact luxury SUV has what it takes to stand out from a very crowded and competent segment.

Competing in another large and highly competitive space, the Genesis GV80 was once again selected as the Best Mid-Size Luxury SUV by the AutoTrader.ca jury. The GV80 ranked high on style, presence, and quality,” says editor-in-chief Lai. The repeat win proves that the GV80 has a wow factor that sets it apart from the pack.
