MARKHAM, Ontario (June 20, 2018) – Genesis ranked highest among all automotive brands in the J.D. Power 2018 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) released today. This marks another leap forward from last year, when Genesis ranked first among premium brands and second overall in its first time included in the survey. There were a total of 13 premium brands out of 33 total brands in this year’s survey.

In terms of car quality ratings at the individual model level, the Genesis G90 placed first among vehicles in the Large Premium Car segment, and the Genesis G80 placed second in the Midsize Premium Car segment.

“Being recognized as a quality leader for the second year in a row by J.D. Power affirms our ambition to lead as a desirable and trusted brand,” said Manfred Fitzgerald, Executive Vice President and Global Head of the Genesis Brand. “Genesis will continue to develop no-compromise luxury vehicles that always place the customer at the centre.”

“We are proud that Genesis has earned the top rank in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, leading the premium segment for the second consecutive year,” added Michael Ricciuto, Brand Director of Genesis Motors Canada. “Genesis stands out in the marketplace by virtue of its unparalleled customer service, including a comprehensive online sales platform, transparent all-inclusive pricing, at-home service, and more. This exceptional service is complemented by products of exceptional quality, as evidenced by this latest result from J.D. Power.”

The U.S.-based IQS study, now in its 32nd year, serves as the industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality measured at 90 days of ownership. The 2018 survey is based on responses from nearly 76,000 purchasers and lessees of new, 2018 model-year vehicles, comprising a 233-question survey designed to provide manufacturers with information to facilitate the identification of problems and drive product improvement.

Since taking top honours in the 2017 IQS study among premium brands and second overall, the Genesis brand placed second in J.D. Power’s U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study among premium vehicles, and the flagship G90 sedan was rated the most appealing vehicle by J.D. Power in the competitive Large Premium Car segment.
