Markham, Ontario, Nov. 8, 2022 — Genesis Motors Canada has unveiled the third fully-electric vehicle to join its lineup, the 2023 Electrified GV70. Continuing its commitment towards a more sustainable future with the brand planning a fully electric lineup by 2030, the second “Electrified” model will be available for sale in the first half of 2023.

The audaciously designed GV70 broke new ground for Genesis through its purity of design execution. Following the direction of the G80 and GV80, the GV70 strikes the perfect balance of Genesis’ design identity - Athletic Elegance. The Electrified version preserves that opulence and sportiness, with unique design characteristics and the added benefit of emission-free driving.

The GV70’s interior provides a strong sense of harmony by exhibiting the architectural philosophy of the “Beauty of Openness,” making use of elliptical, aerodynamic shapes that are purposeful and functional. The inspired, driver-centric layout features a floating centre console with jewelry inspired controls and slim wraparound vents that create a feeling of width and space. The Electrified version continues this tradition with distinctive interior treatments.

The Genesis GV70…Electrified

Unique visual characteristics of the Electrified model include the reverse G-Matrix grille which conceals the hidden charge port, front and rear skid plates, and a unique rear bumper. EV-exclusive standard 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Primacy Tour A/S tires are accentuated by white brake callipers. The Electrified GV70 receives a 0.29 Coefficient of Drag (CD) thanks to such aerodynamic improvements as the front grille blocking treatment and active air flap, streamlined wheels, and flattened, flush underbody of the vehicle. The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) features a high power onboard charger (for home charging) and V2L capability (3.68kW).

The Electrified GV70’s interior applies a sustainable, eco-friendly approach, making use of suede fabrics comprised of yarn made from recycled plastic bottles and waste nets on head lining, pillar trim and sun visors. Electrified GV70 also offers an exclusive Mood lighting treatment complemented by a new Glacier White interior.

The Electrified GV70 is equipped with Smart Regenerative Braking, a system that recaptures energy generated by the deceleration of the vehicle while coasting and under active braking by the driver. The system provides the driver the option of five levels of regenerative recapture, adjusted by paddles on the back of the steering wheel. the “I-Pedal” allows for single pedal driving and maximum regenerative recapture. Road Active Noise Control (ANC-R) helps reduce road noise caused by vibrations that are transmitted to the cabin through vehicle’s suspension and body. A controller receives information from accelerometers and microphones, analyzes the information and produces an inverted sound wave to counter interior noise for each seating position.

Custom Tailored for Canadians

Available in a single well-appointed trim configuration with all-wheel drive for the Canadian market, the 2023 Electrified GV70 Prestige promises a refined and serene driving experience. Seating is adorned in rich Nappa leather. The 14-way power driver seat offers four-way power lumbar support and cushion extension as well as an Ergo massage function. Both driver and 12-way power passenger seat with four-way power lumbar support are heated and ventilated. Additional standard features include a Surround View Monitor and Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), a heated steering wheel, a 15 speaker 1,050-watt Lexicon Premium Audio system (with Quantum logic surround sound), head up display, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear climate control and heated seats.

The 77.4kWh battery found in Electrified GV70 is capable of rapid charging from 10-80% in just 18 minutes when utilizing 350kW (800V) DC fast charging. Charging rate and time estimate varies based on several factors, including current battery charge level, output of the charging unit, vehicle and battery settings and outside temperature. Powered by 160 kW electric motors in both the front and rear, total output is 320 kW (429 hp) and 516 lb.-ft. of torque. Engaging the Boost mode allows for a 10-second burst of 483 hp.  

Safety Comes Standard

Safety comes standard at Genesis, and the Electrified GV70 comes equipped with a suite of safety and driver assistance features, including Highway Driving Assist (HDA II. This convenience system includes lane change assist capabilities and assists drivers in maintaining the centre of the lane at an appropriate speed, while keeping a safe distance to the car in front. Additional safety features include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Changing Assist, High Beam Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (Rear), Remote Smart Parking Assist, Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, a Surround View Monitor, Blind-Spot View Monitor, and Advanced Rear Occupant Alert.

Stay Connected

A complimentary subscription to Genesis Connected Services allows owners to stay connected with a suite of digital applications and remote services that provide convenience and confidence. Owners can remotely monitor vehicle location, battery status, and range, locate charging stations and adjust climate settings, as well as start, stop, and schedule a charge. The premium multimedia system features a high-definition 14.5-inch LCD display on a cloud connected platform that allows for fast and accurate traffic and weather reporting.

Convenient at-home product demonstrations and an easy-to-use online ordering platform are complemented by one, negotiation-free, all-inclusive set price - meaning no additional associated fees. The Electrified GV70 Prestige’s all-inclusive price not only contains complimentary five year/100,000 km scheduled maintenance and updates for multimedia and navigation with optional valet service pick-up and drop-off, but also a courtesy vehicle and complimentary enrollment in the five-year 24/7 Roadside Assistance program.

Guests will be able to choose whether they test drive, acquire, and service their new Genesis at their home or place or business, or one of the new Genesis Retail Experience (GRX) Centres if they prefer. The construction and opening of these facilities marks a major milestone in the evolution of the Genesis omni-channel business model, furthering the brand’s commitment to delivering a class-above customer experience across every area of the business. Genesis Retail Experience Centres provide consumers with access to a fulsome, flexible experience, allowing them to freely transition between online and in-person services based on their preference. All transactions will continue to be completed online and the Genesis at Home suite of services, from at-home test drives to valet service, will all remain available.
