The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awards 5-Star Safety Ratings based on crash test performance. By running a series of frontal, side barrier, side pole and rollover tests, the NHTSA simulates real-world traffic incidents in order to determine how prepared a vehicle is for the unexpected. The 2026 Genesis G80, GV60, GV70, GV80 and GV80 Coupe all hold this title.

Determined through frontal and side collision testing and the standard availability of high-quality headlights and pedestrian front crash prevention, the title is a trusted indicator of vehicle safety.

HOW DOES GENESIS HELP PREVENT ACCIDENTS?

Genesis vehicles are equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that can alert you to potential dangers on the road and actively intervene when necessary to help avoid them.     FORWARD COLLISION-AVOIDANCE ASSIST

    Forward Collision‑Avoidance Assist can detect and help prevent potential accidents by monitoring the road ahead with its front view camera, front radars, and front corner radars, and automatically applying braking or steering assistance if a collision risk is detected. It can sense vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, including in intersections where the risk of T-bone accidents rises.

    BLIND-SPOT COLLISION-AVOIDANCE ASSIST

    Available Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist can warn you if it detects vehicles in your blind spot during a lane change and, if necessary, help return you to your original lane. When the turn signal is activated, Blind-Spot Collision Warning alerts you if there is a vehicle approaching in the indicated lane, and available Blind-Spot View Monitor displays a live image from the side-view camera in the instrument gauge cluster.

    LANE KEEPING ASSIST

    Through subtle steering adjustments, Lane Keeping Assist helps drivers from drifting outside of marked lane lines and Lane Following Assist helps drivers maintain vehicle position in the center of a lane. The system recognizes lane markers through the front view camera, and if they become obscured, it can follow the path of the preceding car.

PASSIVE SAFETY FEATURES

PREPARED FOR JUST IN CASE

In the event of a collision, an advanced network of up to 10 airbags inflates in less than a second to provide immediate occupant protection exactly where it’s needed. The airbags are positioned throughout the cabin, with an available airbag between the driver and front passenger offering additional protection from side-to-side forces. By analyzing the unique crash data, the system can determine and apply the appropriate amount of airbag pressure.

Genesis vehicles feature a highly rigid body structure that enhances overall strength, durability, and occupant safety. The frames are engineered to distribute collision forces around the passenger compartment to protect those within, and reinforced with hot‑stamped steel, ultra‑high‑strength steel, and advanced joining techniques.

Available Pre-Active Safety Seats and Seat Belts proactively secure the driver and front passenger in place when the vehicle detects a dangerous situation to help reduce the likelihood of injury. When the emergency brake is activated, when the vehicle senses a loss of control, or in the event of an imminent collision, the Pre-Active Safety Seat will automatically raise the seatback to an upright position and the Pre-Active Seat Belt will tighten.

Genesis models are engineered with energy-absorbing steering columns that help reduce likelihood of injury to the driver in the event of a collision. The column is designed to collapse and shorten upon impact, absorbing potential crash forces.

Crumple zones at the front and rear of Genesis vehicles are capable of absorbing and redistributing collision forces, while 5mph bumpers minimize damage to vital vehicle structures at low speeds. Together, they help to both protect your vehicle and dampen the effects felt by passengers within the cabin.

    HIGHWAY DRIVING ASSIST

    Highway Driving Assist can reduce fatigue on long drives by maintaining a set distance and speed from the vehicle ahead of you. It can react to vehicles that cut in at low speeds, such as in bumper-to-bumper traffic, and helps center your vehicle in the lane even through curves. Available Lane Following Assist can adjust your lane position to maintain a comfortable distance from surrounding vehicles, and available Lane Change Assist can automatically change lanes when the turn signal is engaged, and it is safe to do so.

    SMART CRUISE CONTROL

    Smart Cruise Control offers similar benefits to Highway Driving Assist, but is available on all roadways. It automatically maintains a set speed and a safe, adjustable distance from the vehicle ahead using front radars and cameras, and supports stop-and-go traffic functionality.

    HIGH BEAM ASSIST

    High Beam Assist helps optimize driving visibility and reduces high-beam glare for oncoming vehicles by automatically switching between high and low beams. The system deactivates the high beam when an oncoming vehicle approaches, then reactivates it once the vehicle has passed.

REAR CROSS-TRAFFIC COLLISION-AVOIDANCE ASSIST

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA) help prevent accidents while parking and driving at low speeds. RCCA activates when the vehicle is in Reverse and will alert the driver and even engage the brakes to prevent collisions with approaching vehicles. PCA can detect pedestrians and obstacles in both Drive and Reverse, and can intervene in the same manner if a collision is detected.

REMOTE SMART PARKING ASSIST

With the press of a button, Remote Smart Parking Assist can make even the most challenging parking situations feel effortless. This intelligent system does all the work for you by managing steering, acceleration, braking and gear shifting to smoothly maneuver into or out of narrow spaces while you relax inside or outside the vehicle.

Surround View Monitor displays a 3D rendering of your Genesis vehicle and its surroundings from a birds-eye perspective, helping you find the perfect parking angle or easily navigate a tight space.
